Carnivore!

Wow, its been a couple of weeks since my last update but I have been a busy bunny! First of all, I will update about Buenos Aires where I spent 1 week: Arrived after a short bus trip from Rosario - was still travelling with Nicola & Hannah from Wales. We checked into our Hostel - the well know Milhouse Hostel and I was checked in for 2 nights with the girls thereafter staying with Lindel Wilson (now a married to Argentinian and residing in Buenos Aires!). I am going to summarise everything because I have left it too long to remember all the details, highlights included:
 - catching up with my old friend! There is something to be said about friendships which even after limited contact for 7 years, feel just as close as they were back in the boarding school days. What wonderful wonderful time spent with my school buddy Mrs Lindel Wilson, and also her very wonderful husband. Really looking forward to having the both of them back in close company when I move back to South Africa..eventually.
 - open air drumming concert, a high energy amazing show in an open space. Loads of people enjoying, and booze free-flowing. Atmosphere was just electric!
 - night life - Buenos Aires certainly has a superb night life, bars, restaurants and so much more..had quite a few nights going out with fellow hostel folk and getting quite mischievous..... Dances routines were practiced, shots were drank, screams could be heard and general Tom Foolery was rife. Many girls comment about how harassing Argentine men are..however I can report that if you are dancing like a crazy person, screeching like a banchi and giving men CRAZY ANGRY eyes if they even look in your direction, they generally seem to leave you alone. Funny.
 -  MEAT is murder... TASTY TASTY MURDER...Eating the Best Steak in the world. Had steak that made me thank the Lord I am eating meat again after my 15 year vegetarian madness -WHAT WAS I THINKING??? I also accidentally ordered a steak for 2 people on another occasion...which I managed to eat all by myself. I am also proud to report that I am now eating my steak RARE..it didnt take long for the bloodlust to settle in!
- Eating the BEST ice cream I have ever tasted... Dulce de Leche (Toffee/caramel) flavour with nuts, and then also Ferroro Rocher flavour... Dad you would be in SERIOUS trouble... its AMAZING
 - Awesome markets with all manner of crafts, and Recoleta Cemetery...A cemetary which has to be seen to be believed - a real must do activity when in BA! - watching a tango show in the oldest Cafe in Buenos Aires!
Buenos Aires certainly is a fantastic city, and I think to do it justice you have to spend at least 7-10 days there if not longer..Superb! And for all the Pledger PIGGIES - Buenos Aires has thus far been the culinary highlight of my entire trip! I left Buenos Aires by ferry boat, and headed for Colonia de Sacremento in Uruguay.. a mere 3 hours away. I spent a week in Uruguay.
Okay so Uruguay highlights:
 - Seeing super picturesque little town called Colonia del Sacramento - stayed for 1 night...cobblestone streets, cute little antique shops, gorgeous little restaurants and a really romantic little place. YAY for single me to be yet again surrounded by loads of happy couples, only confirming my complete social deformity in the ability to hold down my own relationship...hmmphhh.
 - going to a lovely out in the sticks hostel where there where lovely horses to ride...went for a gorgeous ride, true cowboy style with the owner - who was only too impressed at my hooligan type riding style.....imagine visions of me galloping through the meadows, one arm in the air, whooping in delight after not having riding in a while!! I actually got given a contact by him to go work on Estancia (cattle ranch) where I would join in the daily chores of looking after 30 000 heads of cattle. Moving them around the pastures etc. Sounds brilliant, and something I might definitely look at doing if I head back down Uruguay way!
 - going to a hippy, no electricity, beach shack type holiday town.. called Cabo Polonio. Really chilled out for a 3 days, read 2 books, took long walks and had another fantastic ride on the beach. Got a horse from one of the locals, who just saddled it up and asked me if I knew how to ride and sent me on my way! Nothing quite beats taking a slow canter down a white sandy beach!
 - seeing Montevideo, and meeting some nice people at the hostel I was in. Great beachfront promenade, packed with people exercising  etc.
Now the shit part about Uruguay... I got robbed!! I was merrily walking down the street with a little shoulder bag on.. holding nothing but a little bit of cash, camera and a ticket for a show I was about to go watch. I was crossing the road, looking to see if a car was coming, then out of the blue some shithead on a motorbike whizzes past me -grabs my bag, yanks with all his might and breaks the strap. He then scooted off with my bag!! It all happened very quickly, but everything seemed to slow down too....like slow motion in the movies... If I had reflexes quicker than a hibernating sloth I might have actually been able to catch the guy... he was so close and it took a few seconds for him to actually do the deed, steady himself and then set off. So that would be the 3 camera I have lost on this trip!! Fortunately no cards or anything were in the bag...only issue is the ticket for the show I was supposed to be watching was for the Carnaval processions happening in the city and it was a month long ticket/pass type thing which belonged to the hostel. They bought a block of a month, and had asked for my passport as surety to get the pass back so they could... it was worth $300! Long story short... after a few hours of debating, crying, getting angry and finally my most resourceful technique, partially seducing one of the hostel owners - I have yet to pay for the pass...and I clearly got my passport back!
Sheeewwww..... what an adventure! Anyway, I set off for the airport for a flight to Cidade da Maravilhosa...Rio de Janeiro!
More abouts about Rio to follow!
