Dubrovnik....
so far we have been exploring around the area, we bought some snorkels so we been doing a bit of snorkelling, and just chilling out really! There isnt much to see snorkelling, but it gives one peace of mind to see whats underneath you. The water here is a wonderful shade of aqua green, very clear and when swimming around the old town - it drops off into tremendously deep water... SCARY.
Today we hired scooters and decided that to escape death we should perhpas not hire scooters again. After purchasing some goods from our local supermarket, we were en route home... being just a short ride from our accomodation, we thought nothing of hanging our bags on our handle bars. I was carrying the wine, and whilst going around a bend.. one of the bags broke, and one of the bottles of wine went shooting out, onto the road - miraculaously not breaking and rolling down the hill at terminal velocity. Well needless to say I was instantly terrified at the prospect of loosing our tipple. In my mind I meant to slow down, turn to the side of the road, stop and collect my bottle which had seemed to go underneath a parked car. What this actually translated to was me - speeding up, losing slight control, attempting to break whilst holding the throttle, and turning at the same time towards some innocent pedestrians!!!  Hurtling towards them, I suddenly got hold of my senses and came to a halt. I had mounted the pavement by this stage, and was a metre short of flattening someone.
Rick of course, was white faced behind me - trying to figure out in his mind how he was going to explain to my father not only how I had managed to do myself grievious bodily harm, but had also managed to flatten 3 pedestrians and right off a scooter.
Anyhoo. We had a good chuckle after! We did make a point of getting insurance!!
Dubrovnik is quite expensive and already I have spent double my daily budget... its home meals, sandwiches and supermarket trips from now on!
We go on a boat trip tomorrow, a tour of 3 islands close by the Elaphiti Islands which includes a fish picnic and lots of swimming!
Next on our list of ways to escape death is jet ski hire....
